Visiting the Shrine & Traveling Relics
The National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos welcomes visitors to our beautiful campus, featuring the Shrine, St. Mary’s Assumption Church, Seelos Welcome Center (shown above) and more. In addition, we offer home, hospital and parish visits with official blessers bringing first class Seelos relics to your location, to pray with and bless you and your congregation or group.
Visiting the Shrine
The Shrine is located in the historic Irish Channel, 2 blocks off of Magazine Street and is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and more.
Individuals and groups of 2-9 people are welcome anytime during business hours. Stop by the Welcome Center to check in, watch a short informative film about Seelos’ life, tour the museum and browse in the gift shop. Then walk over to the Shrine to pray before Seelos’ remains, see various historical artifacts and relics, and light a candle.
Large Groups & Buses
Visiting the Shrine is a spiritually fulfilling outing for church parish groups, retreats, schools, conferences and more. We will happily accommodate large groups and tour buses, with advance notice. For groups of 10 or more, please fill out this form to reserve your visit date and time.
Traveling relics come to you
The Shrine offers hospital and church parish visits from an official Blesser with a first-class Seelos relic. If you or your loved one is in need of healing, or if your church parish wishes to host a Healing Mass or event, please call a blesser to coordinate a relic visit.
